Apparently this year’s February was a special one. It had 4 days of every day of the week. If that’s not something to appreciate in these times, then I don’t know what is.
The month started with a work trip to Adelaide. When I saw this statue pig with a helmet on in the main shopping strip, I should’ve taken it as a sign. I had a bit of a sniffle and sore throat the day before and thought that getting sick in summer was just not going to happen. I was wrong. The next thing I knew, my right ear didn’t unpop landing leading to a blocked ear for half the morning.

One of the things I like about getting to travel a little for my job is rushing around sightseeing after work. I saw these interesting colour combination flower bunch and admired some of the architecture around town. By dinner, my voice was almost gone but one must eat. I tried a new katsu restaurant and the meal reminded me of a small grandma/grandpa restaurant that I use to go to near the school I was working at in South Korea. That memory flashback made me wonder if they are still there today. Flashback aside, this katsu restaurant made the list of ‘go back to’s’ whenever I’m next back in Adelaide.

Mid month, I was away on another work trip but this time to Melbourne. This early morning sun against the window made me smile and appreciate that early mornings do have their benefits in their own way.

My time in Melbourne coincided with Lunar New Year. I spent my after work hours visiting some asian grocery stores trying to find loose Korean barley tea. I was not successful in my mission but I was stopped by these melon puffs. As a fan of the Melona icecream and cute packaging, my curiosity got the better of me and I bought a packet to try. It was intensely sweet and tasted more like melon than an actual melon. Suffice to say, I didn’t eat more than 1 puff.
After a much better dinner, I caught some lion dancing in Chinatown where firecrackers were being set off all along the street all night. What a lively evening.

I found out that tamagotchi’s are back on the shelves for sale. I wonder if they are still satisfying for kids these days. I remember being oddly annoyed by my tamagotchi for constantly beeping at me, pooping and dying.
