Declutter These Items Today

I’m currently in the process of moving. Moving is such an experience. Mostly a bad one.

Who knew how much stuff one has accumulated and don’t even get me started on the amount of computer cables that seem to have multiplied in their box. I’ve also come to learn that things are almost quite worthless (even if they are still useful!). Thankfully, I’ve been able to give items away for free and at least save them from going to landfill.

To save you from the multiplication bug, here are some things that you should probably declutter today.

1. Candles
2. Old technology
3. Computer cords, extension cords and other random cords
4. Expired medication
5. Expired food and sauces
6. Bedsheets and doonas
7. Excess or old pillows

8. Home decor that has been collecting dust
9. Books you will never read again (or read)
10. Shoes that are past their life date
11. The almost empties- just use them up and get rid of them

12. Excess cutlery that you never use anyway
13. Excess dishes, bowls and mugs
14. Paper
15. Tuppleware and jars
16. Pens and markers that don’t work anymore

17. Sporting equipment that is no longer needed
18. The random knick knacks
19. Utensils that are not useful or needed anymore
20. Coathangers

Moving does bring up the need to declutter. Thanks for the reminder to not hang on to so many things.

Thank you for stopping by! I wish I had done this more during the lockdowns.

It’s a HUGE chore getting rid of items while moving. Especially if you’d spent years (perhaps even decades) accumulating so much junk, it is a daunting task to tackle everything in the home. Best of luck to your move, and I hope you get settled in in your new place soon!

Oh yes, add in housemates and those that have left- so many odd things around. I’m actually moving back home for abit until my next move (which is worse because that means I really need to trim down everything). I will relax once this is all over!

Maybe it is better to list what to keep. 😄

Hubby’s a bit of a hoarder (typical British understatement) whereas I’m Marie Kondo on steroids. I try to have regular clear outs but even so we’ve still got too much stuff.

Having regular clean outs is a great idea. Wish I had gotten onto this during the lockdowns!

After moving a couple of times in the space of a year I got sick of carting heavy books around and went to e-books.

Wow! I’m still on the fence about getting an e-reader. I’ve been going to the library but I may be on the verge of getting an e-reader.

Moving is never fun. We downsized and moved to a different part of the country. Before doing so, I got rid of more that half of what I had collected for years. Now five years later, I have new clutter. 😊

Oh no, time for another declutter!

Moving is such a long and tedious process, and I’m sure every house item just multiplicates as soon as you start packing! For me the hardest thing to declutter are definitely candles because I always feel like I will “reuse” them, but they just end up accumulating somewhere… What I should really do though is expired medication because I am sure I have a lot! However, I feel like I never have too many coathangers!

I also had those candle jars that I’ve kept for use later and then never used. One is currently on my desk as a pen holder but I’ve sadly had to part with a few others.
