The start to 2022 has been quite lack lustre. I’m currently doing my last self isolation day after testing positive. Luckily, symptoms were managable at home and I’m happy to report that I have almost completely recovered 3 seasons of Manifest and in the middle of a Harry Potter movie marathon later.
This holiday period, marked the first 3 weeks I’ve had off work since 2019. I really wanted to do the whole introspective journey, meditation and having many aha moments. But instead, spent alot of it avoiding getting sick and then actually getting sick.
One of the things I did do was log out of my instagram accounts which was at first an accident when my phone broke and I never re-downloaded instagram. It’s been a while and I’ve decided that I won’t be logging back in for some time. It’s one of those social media platforms from the very beginning I knew I didn’t want to have a personal account on and don’t know how it would add to my life. The same thing has happend with my twitter account now collecting cobwebs somewhere in the virtual world.

I’ve felt like the end of 2021 was making me reconsider everything that I do (and have) and this whole notion of out with the old and in with the new kept coming about. I don’t know, I just felt like these were not fun to be on anymore and was just information overload. Maybe I needed to be more of an active rather than passive user?
Has social media lost it’s appeal? Is there any social media you’re not carrying on with in 2022?
Like you, I tested positive/got COVID just around the New Year. A great way to ring in 2022, haha! I likewise had to quarantine, and I’m more-or-less recovered; I return to work tomorrow. Lots of binging Netflix in the meantime! I don’t think I’ll get rid of any of my social media this year, but I will do my best to use less of it (especially Instagram, which can be very toxic on our mental health). It’s a love-hate relationship, and it’s important to stay away sometimes and live your life outside of the screen. Wishing a solid 2022 year going forward from all of this!
Oh no! It was definitely not the way of ringing in the new year that I had in mind. Glad to hear you’ve recovered. Thank you, all the best for 2022 to you too!
I’ve never gotten into Instagram or Twitter and if it’s a resolution at all .. I won’t start it in 2022 🙂 Good luck on your day back to work
Good thing you didn’t get into them so you don’t have this trouble of getting out of it!
I’m sorry to hear that you got tested positive, but glad to know it was manageable and that you can soon go out of your house! 😊 I think it’s very wise to log off social media accounts that you don’t use or that make you feel bad, and I’m sure it will make you feel so much better! I have a love/hate relationship with Instagram and I’m trying to lower the time I spend on the app, but it is not always that easy. However, I have for instance never downloaded Twitter or TikTok because I know it will take too much of my time/make me feel bad!
So many people seem to have a love/hate relationship with Insta. I never got into TikTok either but Twitter beware! Hoping to spend less time on my phone this year.

I need to stop using social media so much, because I’m more passive, and every time I log on there, it’ll be 20 minutes before I realise what I’m doing. Those sneaky things. Anyway, great to hear that you’ve recovered from COVID!
Hahaha yes. One google search turns into 40mins. Thank you!
